The 53 kilometre-long breath-taking Gorges du Tarn is located between Quézac and Le Rozier. Le Rozier is also where the Rivers Jonte and Tarn merge, creating more superb landscapes not far from our canoe centre.
Until the mid-16th century, the village of Rivière-sur-Tarn was called ‘Ribièra de Tarn’ in Occitan, from the Latin ‘Ripperia’ or ‘Rippia’ meaning ‘on the banks of the Tarn’. In 1918 the town council decided to name the municipality ‘Rivière-sur-Tarn’.
We love this region, especially the Gorges du Tarn.
